My Industry Experience
My real estate experience began in New York State where I first
obtained a real estate license in 1971. I did not practice my trade at
that time but I had begun a quest that was to continue for years to
come. Initially the knowledge I had gained was used for buying homes
for my family over the next two decades.
In 1989 after moving to the New Jersey shore, I was finally able
to indulge my desire to sell real estate, getting licensed and joining
the firm of ERA Calloway in Wildwood Crest, NJ. in Februrary of
1990. Real estate experience along the shore was quite varied, giving
me the opportunity to learn about selling muilti-plexes, hotels,
condos, in addition to a variety of single family homes throughout the
island. Much of the experience included dealing with summer vacation
rentals both seasonal and weekly rentals with the deluge of clients
that arrived mainly from Philadelphia each weekend throughout the year.
In 2000, I moved to Arizona, determined to warm my bones after the
raw, chilly winter weather along the coast. After two months of
retirement, I found myself back in classes, learning the differences in
laws and methods used in Arizona while earning my Arizona brokers
license. I joined Long Realty and worked in the Oro Valley office for a
year. Then a Realtor friend opened her own office, Joan Hull Realty and
I moved my license to her office and was her back-up broker. After a
few years, her business was bought out by Prudential.
I learned that I much preferred a less corporate structure for a
working environment and heard rave reviews about a new company called
Casas Adobes Realty which was in its second year at the time. The
company had a strong reputation for its ethics and attention to detail
while allowing agents to develop their business at their own pace.
This fit into my own lifestyle as a perfect match. I wanted to
devote my time to working with clients with out pressure to produce a
quota of sales to stay in the company. This has allowed me to work with
a limited number of clients at a time so that I can give individualized
service. That makes it easier for clients to reach me, assures them of
getting faster responses to their questions and concerns, while
providing more flexibility in scheduling showings and doing paper work.
I have earned my ABR to work as a buyers agent, but I have have
experience as a listing agent. The experience of working with buyers
helps when working with sellers because I have learned what is
important to buyers, what they look for in buying a home. As a result,
my last listing sold in four days inspite of the slowing market!
